GlobalNet recently hosted a successful panel discussion and networking reception focused on empowering businesses to undertake a cloud smart transformation. The event, titled “The Multi-Cloud Universe,” was jointly co-organized by Myanmar Banks Association and MPU, and mainly led by GlobalNet.
The event featured a lineup of notable professionals from the financial industry, including the Chairman of Global Technology, delivered the keynote speech, while U Zaw Lin Thut, CEO of Myanmar Payment Union, and U Aung Khao Phyo, Country Head of VMware Myanmar, also shared insights and expertise. Mr Barry NG, from VMware Singapore, and Ms. Suwai Htun, Head of Cloud Business at GlobalNet, provided an update on VMware Cloud Providers.
During the ceremony, one of the member of GlobalNet’s Board of Directors, stated, “At GlobalNet, we are committed to serving as a telecom service provider, broadband service provider, and digital cloud business. This event was an opportunity to listen to the challenges faced by leaders in this sector and learn more about the professionals dedicated to serving the needs of 42.42 million internet users.”
U Zaw Lin Thut, CEO of Myanmar Payment Union, added, “In terms of technology, the country is already catching up, so I would like to encourage both the banks and the technical side to consider and implement more development.”
U Aung Kyaw Phyo, Country Head of VMware Myanmar, also shared updates on the partnership between VMware and GlobalNet. He stated, “VMware and GlobalNet partnered in 2019 and started building VMware Cloud. Currently, our banking customers, government customers, and SME customers are using it. In GlobalNet Cloud, you can access VMware’s flagship products and next-generation technology. We have provided the entire Software Defined Data Center Sketch on GlobalNet Cloud.”
The first panel session featured Managing Director, Chief Information Officer, Head of Infrastructure, Chief Digital Officer from AYA Bank, First Private Bank, KBZ Bank, and Hana Microfinance, who discussed the process of modernizing applications using cloud technology. The second panel session included Chief Technology Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Country Head, Managing Director from Wave Money, Citizen Pay, Myanmar 2C2P, and AYA Pay, who shared their expertise on the topic.
After the two panel sessions, Ms. Suwai Htun, Head of Cloud Business at GlobalNet, stated, “In addition to improving the efficiency of enterprise and infrastructure, we are ready to launch and deliver applications with good capabilities in a short period of time. This is a key focus for us as we strive to support and empower our customers.”
The event provided a forum for attendees to share insights and experiences, as well as to discuss the current state and future developments of the industry in Myanmar.
